Job Purpose
The Local Mobiliser will support the implementation of UN-Habitat projects in Rio de Janeiro, working closely with operational and technical teams and the Municipality. The primary purpose is to foster community engagement and participation in project activities, ensuring effective communication and alignment with project goals. This role contributes to transforming urban areas into safer, more inclusive, and resilient places by facilitating community involvement in decision-making and project implementation, thereby strengthening local ownership and ensuring project success within vulnerable communities.
Responsibilities
The Local Mobiliser is responsible for promoting community participation and engagement in project activities. This includes organizing and facilitating meetings, workshops, and assemblies to encourage social participation. The role involves clearly communicating project information to the community, ensuring awareness of activities, and fostering active involvement in decision-making processes to strengthen a sense of belonging. Additionally, the Mobiliser will publicize the program within communities, attend project and local meetings as required, and ensure technical activities align with agency quality expectations. The role also includes elaborating and delivering monthly activity reports and performing other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of experience in relevant fields is required. Experience in data collection, particularly in public projects and vulnerable communities in Rio de Janeiro, is essential. Experience in the social area and coordinating fieldwork, preferably in the public sector and vulnerable areas, is desirable. Previous experience with the United Nations is also considered an asset.
Skills
Good computer skills (Windows, Office packages, web search engines). Experience in household, census, and/or social surveys, especially in vulnerable areas. Professionalism, planning and organization, communication (written and verbal), and teamwork skills are essential. Ability to work in multicultural environments and difficult conditions is also important.
