Consultant on Policy Network on Open Digital Infrastructure

Organizational Context

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF), established by the UN Secretary-General, serves as a multistakeholder platform for policy dialogue on Internet governance. Based in Geneva, the IGF Secretariat supports intersessional workstreams, including Policy Networks, to produce tangible outputs and inform global digital policy discussions. This role contributes to strengthening the IGF's intersessional work and collaboration.

Job Purpose

This consultancy role supports the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) by facilitating and documenting the work of the Policy Network on Open Digital Infrastructure (PNODI). The consultant will manage PNODI meetings, synthesize community discussions, and draft outputs that inform policy debates and decision-making processes. The role involves presenting these outputs at the IGF's Annual Meeting, contributing to the IGF's objective of fostering sustainability, security, and development of the Internet. The work aims to enhance the IGF's impact through continuous collaboration and the production of practical, evolving resources for stakeholders in the digital policy landscape.

Responsibilities

Facilitate and document meetings for the Policy Network on Open Digital Infrastructure (PNODI). Synthesize community discussions and draft substantive outputs, demonstrating high-level knowledge of the subject matter. Ensure timely submission and readability of all outputs. Present and discuss these outputs during dedicated sessions at the 21st Annual Meeting of the Internet Governance Forum. Cooperate effectively with the MAG issue coordinator(s) and other PNODI participants. Contribute to the development of iterative and living resources that reflect current priorities and technological advancements in Internet governance and digital policymaking.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of professional experience is required, including analytical work in areas such as ICTs, Internet governance, digital public policymaking, development management, participatory governance, and capacity building. Considerable experience in drafting high-level reports, meeting summaries, and synthesizing complex information is necessary. Demonstrated expertise in Internet infrastructure, open-source ecosystems, or digital standards is also required.
