Organizational Context

Job Purpose
This role supports the UNECE's environmental mandate by conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis on industrial accident prevention, preparedness, and response. The incumbent will interpret trends, analyze policy effects, and draft technical papers, particularly concerning energy transition and Natech risk management. Key contributions include supporting intergovernmental bodies under relevant conventions, organizing expert meetings, and preparing documentation for technical cooperation programs. The role also involves data analysis and visualization to inform planning and decision-making, ensuring effective delivery of the division's services and promoting sustainable development.
Responsibilities
The role involves comprehensive analysis of industrial safety, including developing information on accident prevention, preparedness, and response, and interpreting trends to assess policy impacts. Responsibilities include drafting technical papers on industrial safety, energy transition, and Natech risk management, and analyzing relevant policy proposals. The incumbent will attend international meetings, assist in organizing expert group meetings and seminars, and prepare inputs for senior staff presentations. Support for intergovernmental bodies includes preparing documentation, reports, and draft decisions. Additionally, the role entails participating in missions, organizing training seminars for national experts, preparing technical cooperation documentation, and monitoring project implementation. General duties include administrative tasks and data analysis for reporting and decision-making.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in environmental or legal issues is required, including experience with multilateral environmental agreements and servicing intergovernmental bodies. Specific experience in industrial safety and preventing accidental water pollution is also mandatory. Experience in the UN system or similar international organizations, legislation review, and data analytics is desirable.
