Job Purpose
This Field Agent role is crucial for the "Inclusive and Sustainable Rio" project, aimed at strengthening urban resilience in Rio de Janeiro State through sustainable development and disaster risk reduction. The primary purpose is to mobilize and raise public awareness within communities about urban and climate resilience, focusing on non-structural actions to mitigate disaster risks. The role involves active participation in field operations, community engagement, and supporting project activities to foster a culture of sustainability and preparedness, ultimately contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the New Urban Agenda.
Responsibilities
The Field Agent will actively participate in field operations, performing specific roles in areas such as communications, reception, and risk monitoring. Key duties include supporting community organization during emergency evacuations, providing basic first aid guidance, and facilitating communication during emergencies. The role involves monitoring warning signs and threats in risky areas to contribute to disaster prevention, supporting shelter operations, and working closely with the local community to provide information and support. The Field Agent will also assist in organizing operational resources, ensuring equipment preservation, and adhering to safety protocols. Responsibilities extend to contributing to data collection, preparing activity reports, sharing operational feedback for improvements, and identifying and managing potential conflicts. The role also includes developing activities to strengthen community resilience and expand educational actions promoting a culture of resilience.
Work Experience
Required experience includes social mobilization activities and social work within slums and urban communities. Experience in community organization within emergency contexts and/or disaster prevention is desirable.
