Organizational Context
The intern will support the Rule of Law and Democracy Section (ROLDS) within the Rule of Law, Accountability and Civic Space (RACS) Branch of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva. This role contributes to the OHCHR's mandate by assisting in research and analysis on rule of law, democratic governance, accountability, and human rights issues.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide practical experience in human rights promotion and protection. The intern will assist in research and analysis related to the rule of law, democratic governance, accountability, and human rights. Key contributions include monitoring developments in Member States, preparing research materials, and supporting project design and implementation. The role also involves assisting with the organization of meetings, managing databases, and drafting official correspondence and communication materials. This position offers an opportunity to gain exposure to international human rights mechanisms and contribute to the OHCHR's efforts in promoting equality and widening democratic space.
Responsibilities
Assist in conducting research and analysis on rule of law, democratic governance, accountability, and human rights issues. Monitor developments in Member States and prepare background notes, briefing papers, and reports. Contribute to the design and implementation of projects promoting equality, democratic space, and human rights in governance. Support the organization of meetings, workshops, and consultations. Compile and maintain databases of relevant legislation and best practices. Draft summaries of meetings and official correspondence. Prepare communication materials, including web content and presentations. Perform other tasks as required to support the Section’s mandate and activities.
