Organizational Context
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority within the UN system. The UN-REDD Programme, jointly led by FAO, UNDP, and UNEP, supports countries in forest governance and climate solutions. This consultancy role supports UN-REDD's global communications and advocacy efforts.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to produce a comprehensive video and photography package documenting Ghana's ART TREES certification milestone. The consultant will capture the stories of smallholder cocoa farmers, forest communities, and institutions involved, creating high-quality outputs suitable for UN-REDD's global communications and advocacy platforms. This includes producing a main documentary clip, social media clips in various formats, and edited photographs, all while ensuring compliance with UN standards and local regulations. The work aims to highlight the success of the ART TREES initiative and its impact on the ground.
Responsibilities
Develop a detailed workplan and shooting schedule, including identifying interview subjects and locations. Conduct and film interviews with diverse stakeholders, ensuring signed consent and release forms are obtained. Capture B-roll footage of cocoa agroforestry systems, forest landscapes, community life, and institutional settings. Operate a drone to capture aerial footage of landscapes and sites, adhering to all aviation regulations. Produce 50 high-resolution edited photographs with IPTC metadata. Deliver a 180-second documentary clip and a 60-second social media clip in horizontal and vertical formats, complete with English subtitles and professional colour grading. Provide all raw, unedited footage in its original camera format.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of three years of professional experience in video production, photography, and editing, with a strong portfolio of documentary content. Proven experience filming in rural environments and conducting interviews is necessary. Experience operating professional drones and producing subtitled video content is also required. Familiarity with Ghana and UN communications is desirable.
