Job Purpose
This internship position at the UN Information Centre in Mexico City supports the Department of Global Communications' mission to promote public understanding and support for the UN's aims and activities. The intern will contribute to communicating the UN's work to local audiences in Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic, engaging local partners, and bringing the UN closer to the people it serves. The role also involves supporting the UN Country Team and Resident Coordination Office communications and advocacy functions, reporting to the National Information Officer. This is an unpaid, in-person, full-time internship for a maximum of six months.
Responsibilities
The Graphic Design Intern will assist in developing graphic design plans and multimedia products to support UNIC communications activities, campaigns, and events, ensuring alignment with UN branding guidelines. Key duties include designing various multimedia materials such as postcards, videos, GIFs, animations, infographics, reports, maps, banners, and web elements for diverse digital platforms and audiences. The intern will also support the design of printed materials like brochures, banners, and reports, and assist in producing print-ready dummies. Additional responsibilities include photo editing, researching and designing public outreach formats, and creating visual content for the UN website and social media platforms. The intern will perform other assigned duties as required.
Work Experience
No prior work experience is required for this United Nations internship. However, applicants should possess relevant training, education, or coursework that will benefit the UN during their internship. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds is also expected.
Skills
Graphic design, multimedia product development, digital and print material design, photo editing, public outreach format design, visual content creation for web and social media, proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Google programs, knowledge of Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere), Capcut, or Canva, cross-cultural communication, Spanish fluency (written and oral).
