Organizational Context

Job Purpose
This full-time, in-person internship in New York supports the Office of the Victims' Rights Advocate (OVRA). The role contributes to the UN's system-wide efforts to uphold the rights and dignity of victims of sexual exploitation and abuse. The intern will assist the Senior Human Rights Officer in various tasks, including research, analysis, drafting documents, and supporting meetings and outreach activities, all aimed at advancing the VRA's mandate and promoting a victim-centered approach.
Responsibilities
Conduct research and analysis on legal matters relevant to the Victims' Rights Advocate's mandate. Prepare short papers on topics concerning the VRA's mandate and victim rights, with a focus on legal assistance. Draft or contribute to the creation of notes, background papers, talking points, and speeches. Attend and document meetings and conferences. Provide support for meetings involving Senior Victims' Rights Officers and Focal Points. Assist with communication, public information, and outreach activities. Perform other assigned duties to support the office's operations.
Work Experience
No prior work experience is required for the United Nations Internship Programme. Computer literacy in standard software applications is expected.
