Organizational Context

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), through its Global Maritime Crime Programme (GMCP), is implementing a project to enhance maritime safety and security management in Libya. This role supports the project's field activities by providing essential transportation services within Tripoli and across Libya.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to provide professional, safe, and timely driving services to support UNODC programme activities in Libya. The role ensures the secure transportation of UNODC personnel, consultants, partners, and materials, adhering strictly to UN security regulations and operational standards. This is crucial for the smooth implementation of the GMCP project, which aims to address transnational organized crime in line with human rights principles. The driver will contribute to the overall operational efficiency and safety of the UNODC mission in Libya.

Responsibilities

Provide safe and timely transportation for UNODC staff, consultants, and authorized personnel, including official documents, materials, and equipment. Ensure punctuality and adherence to schedules. Maintain the assigned vehicle in good mechanical condition, conducting daily checks and accurate logbook entries. Report any mechanical issues or incidents promptly. Strictly adhere to UN security procedures and local traffic regulations, supporting compliance with movement protocols and security clearance requirements. Assist with logistics for incoming missions, including transport coordination and administrative support, and handle mail and packages for timely distribution.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in driving and logistics/administrative support within an international organization is required. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance is also necessary. Familiarity with Tripoli and surrounding areas is desirable.
