Organizational Context
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), part of the UN Secretariat, is seeking a consultant based in Santiago. This role will contribute to a key research project by generating statistical information and analytical texts on cultural employment in Ibero-America.
Job Purpose
The consultant's primary purpose is to generate statistical information on cultural employment and provide analytical texts for a significant research document. This involves homologating occupational classifiers, processing household surveys to create cultural employment indicators, and preparing comparative tables and graphs. The role also includes drafting specific reports on household spending and cultural employment, as well as thematic boxes, all contributing to the main output of the project. The consultant will work under the supervision of the Project Manager and collaborate with another consultant.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for homologating occupational classifiers (ISCO 08 and ISIC Rev. 4) from household surveys (2019 and 2024) and processing these surveys to generate cultural employment indicators. They will prepare comparative tables and graphs on employment, including notes and clarifications. Additionally, the consultant will draft a section report on household spending (approx. 5 pages) and a chapter report on cultural employment (35-45 pages). They will also develop thematic boxes (1-2 pages) as agreed with the project counterpart. All research and writing tasks will be conducted under the supervision of the Project Manager and in collaboration with another consultant.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of consulting experience is required, specifically in social policy or in managing quantitative social information. Experience in statistical analysis and report writing is essential for this role.
