Organizational Context
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), part of the UN Secretariat, seeks a consultant based in Santiago for a 4-month project. This role contributes to a document on culture's role in sustainable development.
Job Purpose
The consultant will finalize three key chapters for a report on culture and sustainable development. This involves developing content on international cultural trade, public funding and cooperation in culture, and national/regional cultural policies aligned with the 2030 agenda. The role also includes incorporating feedback from stakeholders and coordinating the work of other consultants to ensure timely delivery of their respective chapters. The objective is to produce a comprehensive and well-integrated document that analyzes the intersection of culture, economics, and policy in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for drafting final versions of three chapters: one on international and regional trade of cultural goods and services, including statistical data processing; another on national institutional frameworks, public spending, and cultural cooperation in Ibero-America; and a third on national and regional cultural policies for the 2030 and post-2030 agendas, including recommendations. The role also entails incorporating feedback from internal and external stakeholders into ongoing and completed chapters. Furthermore, the consultant will coordinate the activities and timelines of other chapter contributors, providing guidance on structure and reviewing drafts. Data collection processes for specific chapters will also be coordinated, ensuring timely and accurate information gathering and verification.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of experience is required in analyzing economic, social, or cultural development trends and public policies within Latin America.
