Organizational Context
This position is within the General Services Section Registry of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) in Arusha. The role reports to the Supervisor of the Facilities Management Unit and is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of building equipment and systems.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to ensure a safe, reliable, and efficiently maintained facility. This involves ensuring all critical building systems operate with minimal downtime, that preventive maintenance activities are completed on schedule, and that repairs are addressed promptly. The role contributes to the delivery of construction or maintenance projects to the required standards, supporting the overall operational integrity of the IRMCT facilities.
Responsibilities
Operate and maintain distributed building equipment and systems, including electrical power distribution, HVAC, water/fire pumps, control systems, generators, UPS, firefighting equipment, plumbing, elevators, and solar power systems. Conduct daily inspections of major building equipment and workspaces. Prepare and complete preventive maintenance schedules and reports. Manage requisitions for maintenance supplies and assist in identifying potential vendors. Perform regular repair, reconditioning, and preventive maintenance work, including plumbing, electrical, and basic office equipment repairs. Undertake minor construction and repairs, such as installing partitions, changing locks, and replacing glass. Evaluate repair needs, assist in preparing plans and specifications, and provide direction to outside contractors to ensure project completion according to requirements. Prepare status reports on completed work and perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in facilities management is required. Demonstrated ability to use a computer is also required.
