This internship role supports ESCWA's research and policy development efforts.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to support ESCWA's work on population issues, specifically in the areas of demographic change, ageing, and migration within the Arab region. The intern will contribute to research, data analysis, and the preparation of reports and policy briefs. Key activities include researching migration laws and policies, analyzing population dynamics, and assisting in the development of evidence-based policy recommendations. The role also involves supporting technical assistance and capacity-building initiatives, contributing to better migration governance and refugee protection, and facilitating coordination with stakeholders. This position offers a valuable learning experience in international development and policy analysis.

Responsibilities

Conduct research and analysis on population dynamics, ageing, and migration trends in the Arab region. Support the preparation of reports and policy briefs on demographic and socioeconomic issues. Assist in gathering and analyzing data related to population growth, fertility, ageing, and migration. Contribute to the development of evidence-based policy recommendations. Support technical assistance activities aimed at strengthening national policies and strategies on ageing. Assist in organizing capacity-building workshops, training sessions, and high-level meetings. Prepare background materials, presentations, and meeting documentation. Facilitate coordination with government representatives, experts, and development partners on population and ageing-related initiatives.

No previous work experience is required for this internship. The focus is on academic background and demonstrated interest in the field of work.

Skills

Computer literacy in standard software applications. Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations. Personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
