The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a consultant to support the Global Environment Fund-funded ‘Net-Zero Nature-Positive Accelerator Global Platform’ project. This role contributes to UNEP’s Climate, Nature, Science and Policy, and Finance and Economic Transformation Programmes, operating within the Industry and Economy Division’s Economic and Fiscal Policy Unit.
Job Purpose
The consultant will play a crucial role in implementing component three of the Net-Zero Nature-Positive Accelerator Global Platform project. The primary purpose is to support participating countries in accelerating their transition to net-zero nature-positive economies. This involves catalyzing finance and partnerships, triggering investment, promoting policy coherence, and facilitating the sharing of experiences and lessons learned. The consultant's work will directly contribute to UNEP's strategic programmes and the overall objective of fostering sustainable development through effective environmental management and economic transformation.
Responsibilities
The consultant is responsible for supporting participating countries in tracking Net-Zero Nature-Positive (NZNP) actions by developing knowledge products on the NZNP global measurement framework. Key duties include conducting a thorough review and proposing modifications to measurement methodologies, focusing on the Green Economy Measurement Framework. This involves selecting and applying indicators, conducting data collection and analysis, and drafting a comprehensive manual. The consultant will also develop presentation materials and deliver a global webinar and two regional workshops on the NZNP Measurement Framework, facilitating knowledge sharing and capacity building. Additionally, the role involves designing an initial dashboard for visualizing NZNP results and providing inputs for post-workshop and clinic reporting.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of work experience is required, with at least two years specifically related to implementing NZNP or green economy monitoring frameworks. Experience in conducting modeling and indicator work, particularly for monitoring frameworks, is advantageous.
Skills
Strong background in statistical analysis, data collection methodologies, and data analysis tools. Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and implement comprehensive measurement frameworks. Proven ability to translate data into actionable insights. Experience in modeling and indicator work is advantageous.
