Job Purpose
This internship aims to support UN-Habitat's Anti-Racism Advocates in their mission to combat racism and racial discrimination within the UN system. The intern will contribute to the development and implementation of UN-Habitat's anti-racism strategy, aligning with the Secretary-General's call to action. The role provides a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in global sustainable urban development and anti-racism initiatives, supporting research, policy analysis, and event coordination. Responsibilities
The intern will provide direct support to UN-Habitat's Anti-Racism Advocates. Key duties include conducting research, analysis, and review of UN policies related to discrimination and racism. The role involves assisting with the interpretation and application of the Secretary-General's strategic action plan on racism, relevant resolutions, and conventions. Responsibilities also extend to drafting and reviewing policy documents, such as correspondence, summary notes, and briefing papers. Additionally, the intern will assist in servicing trainings, events, and meetings, including note-taking and preparing summary reports. Maintaining a resource library and supporting the design and follow-up of surveys on racism and discrimination are also core functions.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, a field of study closely related to the internship's focus is necessary. A degree qualification and relevant experience demonstrating the ability to support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and programs are required.
