Responsibilities
The Finance and Budget Assistant is responsible for preparing supporting documents for cost estimates and budget proposals, including staff and non-staff requirements. They will assist in elaborating resource requirements and monitoring expenditures against approved budgets, making necessary adjustments. The role involves preparing budget performance submissions and reports, analyzing variances, and reviewing/processing special service agreements, travel requests, and requisitions. Assistance in trust fund and grant management within Umoja is crucial, ensuring compliance with UN rules. General administration includes maintaining project documentation, drafting correspondence on financial matters, managing files and databases, and serving as the IT focal point.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of experience in finance, budget, accounting, or administrative services is required. This can be reduced to five years with a first-level university degree. Experience in managing extra-budgetary resources, trust funds, and ERP systems like Umoja is essential. Experience with project proposal budget reviews is desirable.
