Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to expertly moderate sessions at COP17, ensuring an engaging and impactful experience for all participants and contributing to the UNCCD's objectives of promoting sustainable land management. The moderator will develop an engagement strategy, prepare session materials, conduct interviews with speakers, and facilitate dynamic discussions. This role aims to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of the conference events, fostering valuable dialogue and outcomes. The work is home-based and expected to last two weeks in August 2026, contributing to the global effort against desertification, land degradation, and drought.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement an effective engagement strategy for COP17 sessions. Prepare tailored introductory materials and interview questions for speakers. Conduct a dry run to ensure session readiness. Moderate all agreed-upon sessions, ensuring a seamless, efficient, and professional atmosphere for both in-person and virtual participants. Facilitate meaningful interactions and discussions, highlighting key takeaways, conclusions, and recommendations. Conduct interviews with selected speakers and experts to capture insights. Submit a post-event report detailing best practices, lessons learned, and recommendations for future actions. Engage with high-level personalities and UNCCD representatives.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of experience in communications, journalism, or a related area is required. Demonstrable experience in moderating high-level events is essential. Experience working with international media is expected, and UN experience is considered an advantage.
