Public Information Intern
Organizational Context
The Independent Institution on Missing Persons in the Syrian Arab Republic (IIMP) is mandated to clarify the fate of missing persons in Syria and support their families. The institution emphasizes the representation of victims and survivors. This internship is situated within the Executive Office of the IIMP in Geneva.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the development and dissemination of public information products and communication activities for the Independent Institution on Missing Persons in the Syrian Arab Republic (IIMP). The intern will work under the supervision of the Public Information Officer, collaborating with colleagues to advance the Institution's mandate, priorities, and outreach efforts. The role contributes to raising awareness and engaging stakeholders through various communication channels, ensuring the perspectives of victims, survivors, and families remain central to the IIMP's work. This position offers a practical learning experience in international public information and communication within a human rights-focused organization.
Responsibilities
Support the drafting, editing, and publishing of content for the IIMP's social media platforms (X, Facebook, LinkedIn). Assist in creating visual and multimedia content, including graphics, short videos, and photo editing. Draft social media posts, website updates, and other communication materials in English and/or Arabic. Support event coverage through photography, videography, and social media updates. Maintain content calendars and organize/archive communication materials. Undertake other public information and communication activities as required. Demonstrate professionalism, creativity, and discretion in all tasks. Ensure timely and accurate completion of assignments and maintain confidentiality.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, experience in managing social media platforms and creating digital communication content for an organization is desirable. Experience in graphic design, photography, videography, or using content creation tools is also considered a plus.
