National Consultant / Project Coordinator, Jordan
Organizational Context
The International Trade Centre (ITC), part of the UN Secretariat, is implementing the Making Trade Happen (MTH) project in Jordan. This project, funded by the FCDO, aims to enhance export competitiveness, improve market linkages, and foster an enabling environment for services trade. The National Project Coordinator role is crucial for the day-to-day coordination and operational facilitation of the MTH project within Jordan.
Job Purpose
The National Project Coordinator (NPC) is responsible for the effective day-to-day coordination and delivery of the Making Trade Happen (MTH) project in Jordan. Working under the supervision of the ITC Programme Manager, the NPC ensures the timely and quality implementation of all planned activities, acting as the national focal point for government, private sector, and business support institutions. This role is vital for stakeholder engagement, monitoring, and operational facilitation, ensuring coherent delivery and strong national ownership of the project's objectives, which include strengthening export competitiveness, improving market linkages, and advancing trade policy dialogue.
Responsibilities
The National Project Coordinator will manage stakeholder engagement and institutional coordination by acting as the primary liaison with national institutions, business support organizations, chambers, and associations. This includes organizing meetings, facilitating dialogues, and maintaining stakeholder engagement logs. The role also involves SME mobilization, selection, and advisory support, such as disseminating application calls, outreach, verifying SME data, and collaborating on selection criteria. Furthermore, the NPC will coordinate technical delivery and SME engagement, monitor assistance, liaise with trainers, and track SME progress. Logistical support for trainings and events, including trade fair preparation, is also a key responsibility. Finally, the NPC will contribute to project planning, monitoring, and reporting, including submitting weekly action plans, monthly presentations, and quarterly/annual progress reports with supporting documentation.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in project coordination, SME support, or donor-funded programmes within Jordan is required. Proven experience working with government entities, chambers, and private sector associations is essential. Familiarity with SME advisory services, public-private dialogue, or export development projects is also necessary. Experience in coordinating training, workshops, and technical missions is desirable.
Skills
Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to manage concurrent work streams; solid understanding of trade, private sector development, or services sector issues in Jordan; excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaborative project tools.
