This role supports UNEP-CCC's project to develop a digital map visualizing climate risks in Uganda, strengthening national adaptation and resilience-building efforts.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to provide expert technical support for the development of Uganda's Climate Risk and Vulnerability Digital Map. The primary purpose is to design and deliver a comprehensive digital map that visualizes current and future climate risks across key sectors. This includes developing the map itself, transferring the backend data and system components to the local technical team with guidance for maintenance, and preparing a user manual. The role directly contributes to strengthening Uganda's capacity to anticipate, plan for, and respond to climate-related risks, supporting national climate adaptation priorities and the development of its NDC 3.0.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for developing the Uganda Climate Risk and Vulnerability Digital Map, ensuring it incorporates climate hazard, exposure, vulnerability, adaptive capacity data, timeframes, and affected sectors. A key duty involves transferring the backend data package and system components to the local technical team, providing clear guidance for the map's ongoing maintenance. Additionally, the consultant must prepare a comprehensive user manual for the digital map. This work supports the broader National Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment project, aiming to enhance Uganda's climate resilience and adaptation strategies.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of professional experience in digital platform design and development, interaction design, and digital product concept development and prototyping is required. Candidates with a Master's degree need at least five years of relevant experience. Experience developing digital products related to climate risk is considered a strong asset.
