Senior Facilities Management, Infrastructure & Sustainability Consultant
Organizational Context
The Central Support Services Division (CSSD) within UNRWA Headquarters in Amman provides integrated facilities management, infrastructure services, administrative systems, and sustainability support. This role is within CSSD, contributing to agency-wide improvements in efficiency, sustainable procurement, and environmental sustainability, including the SMART Project.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to provide senior technical and coordination support to the Central Support Services Division (CSSD) in Amman. The role focuses on strengthening integrated facilities management systems, infrastructure planning, and sustainability initiatives. Key contributions include coordinating construction and renovation projects, integrating sustainable procurement and environmental practices, supporting energy and emissions reporting, monitoring contracts and service delivery, and implementing the SMART Project to improve procedures and operations.
Responsibilities
Coordinate CSSD facilities management operations and infrastructure activities, including planning and delivering renovation and capital works projects. Promote lifecycle asset management and update facilities management procedures and technical guidelines. Coordinate infrastructure and renovation projects through all phases, providing technical input, monitoring compliance, identifying risks, and liaising with contractors. Support the implementation of the SMART Project by integrating sustainability into procurement and administrative processes, contributing to awareness activities, and advancing efficiency measures. Monitor facilities management contracts and SLAs, review specifications, and follow up on contractor performance. Coordinate with internal stakeholders, prepare reports, and support operational improvements and knowledge sharing on sustainability initiatives.
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience is required in facilities management, infrastructure coordination, construction/renovation project support, sustainable procurement, and environmental sustainability. Experience with international organizations is considered an asset.
Skills
Proficiency in MS Office applications and project management tools. Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks. Technical skills include facilities management, infrastructure coordination, construction methods, health and safety, quality assurance, project coordination, monitoring, reporting, sustainable procurement, and environmental sustainability practices.
