Organizational Context
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Corruption and Financial Crime Branch is a global leader in anti-corruption efforts, supporting countries in preventing and combating corruption, particularly those emerging from conflict. This role supports the implementation of a corruption risk mitigation plan within Sierra Leone's Ministry of Sport, contributing to peacebuilding efforts.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to provide technical assistance to UNODC counterparts in Sierra Leone for implementing a corruption risk methodology within a pilot public institution. The role involves consultations, mentoring, and technical advice to support the development and implementation of a conflict and gender-sensitive corruption risk mitigation plan. Additionally, the consultant will facilitate South-South learning events, enabling stakeholders to share experiences and best practices in anti-corruption strategies. The ultimate goal is to enhance the capacity of anti-corruption authorities to prevent, identify, and respond to corruption risks, thereby strengthening peacebuilding efforts and promoting transparency and accountability in public finances.
Responsibilities
The consultant will prepare, co-facilitate, and follow up on a corruption risk mitigation workshop with the Ministry of Sport, in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Commission. They will support the implementation of the resulting mitigation plan, ensuring it incorporates conflict and gender-sensitive approaches. A key responsibility is to facilitate ongoing stakeholder buy-in and support for the corruption risk management process among Sierra Leonean counterparts. This includes leveraging learning from South-South cooperation events. The consultant will also undertake other related duties as required to ensure the successful implementation of project activities and deliverables, such as supporting stakeholder participation in study tours and knowledge exchange meetings.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in criminal justice, governance, or anti-corruption within Sierra Leone is required. Experience in planning and producing interactive events for high-level counterparts is desirable. Previous work experience with the UN or other international organizations is also desirable.
Skills
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience in planning and producing interactive events. Knowledge of criminal justice, governance, and anti-corruption principles. Familiarity with UN or international organization work is a plus.
