Job Purpose

Responsibilities
The Finance and Budget Assistant is responsible for supporting budget processes, including reviewing and preparing medium-term plans, cost estimates, and budget proposals. This includes monitoring expenditures against approved budgets, preparing necessary adjustments, and reviewing requisitions for goods and services to ensure fund availability and correct expenditure coding. The role involves assisting in the preparation of budget performance reports and analyzing variances. Additionally, the assistant will calculate, review, and validate various claims, such as Contingent-Owned Equipment (COE) and Uniformed Personnel Reimbursement. They will also perform cost center manager functions, prepare management information analysis, and act as a local process expert for Uniformed Capabilities Management. General duties include maintaining financial databases, ensuring compliance with UN policies, drafting correspondence, and potentially providing guidance to other staff.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of experience in finance, budget, accounting, or related administrative services is required. This minimum is reduced to five years for candidates with a first-level university degree. Experience with financial rules, regulations, and procedures, as well as ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, is essential. Experience processing complex claims and working with data analytics tools is desirable.
