Job Purpose
This internship opportunity with OCHA in New York, within the Evaluation and Oversight Unit (EOU), aims to provide interns with practical experience in humanitarian affairs. The intern will support the EOU in managing and monitoring evaluations of OCHA's work and broader humanitarian responses. This role contributes to OCHA's mission by assisting in the analysis, documentation, and dissemination of evaluation findings, ultimately supporting effective and principled humanitarian action. The internship offers a chance to gain exposure to the UN system and contribute to improving humanitarian response efforts through oversight and assessment activities.
Responsibilities
The intern will conduct research and analyze information from various sources on assigned topics. Key duties include supporting the planning and organization of meetings and briefings, drafting meeting notes, and preparing background papers. The role involves assisting in the design of information materials such as flyers and infographics, and proposing solutions for knowledge management. The intern will also help collect stakeholder comments, review project documents, and contribute to written reports. Additionally, responsibilities include maintaining team websites, collaborating on performance monitoring, researching UN developments, and assisting in the preparation of dissemination plans for evaluation products.
Work Experience
No prior work experience is required for this internship. However, relevant academic coursework, advanced studies, or specific skills that can benefit the UN are beneficial. Proficiency in data visualization and design software (e.g., InDesign, Canva, Stata) is highly desirable, as are publications in relevant fields.
