This role supports the implementation of Chile's Taxonomy of Environmentally Sustainable Economic Activities (T-MAS), developed by the Ministry of Finance, to guide financing flows and promote a low-carbon economy.
Job Purpose
This Senior Policy Consultant role is crucial for leading the implementation of the Chilean Taxonomy within the financial sector, particularly the banking sector. The primary purpose is to manage Phase I of the project, focusing on testing, piloting, and evaluating the practical application of the Taxonomy in banking institutions' portfolios and processes. This work will enhance market readiness and build capacity within the banking sector, ensuring the Taxonomy's effective integration into regulatory frameworks and contributing to Chile's transition towards a sustainable and low-carbon economy. The role also supports the development of a roadmap for regulatory adoption in Phase II.
Responsibilities
Lead the technical guidance for the Chilean Taxonomy implementation project, working closely with local experts and stakeholders. Manage Phase I, focusing on testing, piloting, and evaluating the Taxonomy's application within banking institutions' portfolios and processes. Develop a roadmap for the regulatory adoption of the Chilean Taxonomy to ensure its effective implementation in the banking sector. Coordinate activities with financial regulators, including the Financial Market Commission and the Superintendency of Pensions. Provide essential expertise and support for the development of national implementation strategies. Conduct gap analyses, identify best practices, and formulate policy recommendations for taxonomy implementation. Design and deliver capacity-building programs for financial sector professionals.
Work Experience
At least eight (8) years of professional experience in sustainable finance, with a focus on European Union sustainable finance policy frameworks. Demonstrated hands-on experience in implementing the EU Taxonomy or similar initiatives within financial institutions is desirable. Experience engaging with financial regulators on taxonomy implementation is also desirable.
Skills
Strong analytical and reporting skills. Ability to lead complex projects. Outstanding communication skills, articulating technical information to diverse audiences. Experience in designing and delivering capacity-building programs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms. Ability to work under pressure and deliver high-quality results.
