Job Purpose
This internship offers a valuable learning experience within the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in Bangkok, Thailand. The role supports the implementation of administrative and operational activities, contributing to country-level programs, project monitoring, reporting, research, and communication efforts. Interns will gain practical experience in finance, budget, procurement, human resources, and general office administration, working under the guidance of a UN-Habitat staff member. This position provides exposure to the linkage between local technical assistance and normative work, fostering professional development in a vibrant international environment.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide support to the UN-Habitat office in Bangkok with administrative and operational activities. Key duties include assisting with finance and budget functions, preparing and processing documentation, and supporting procurement and contract administration. The role also involves providing assistance in human resources activities such as recruitment and personnel administration, and contributing to general office management. Responsibilities extend to maintaining filing systems, drafting correspondence and reports, supporting data collection and analysis, and providing logistical support for meetings and events. The intern may also conduct basic research relevant to the office's work.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this UN internship. However, applicants must be students in the final year of a university degree program (Bachelor's or equivalent) or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD. A field of study closely related to the internship's focus is required. Good communication and research skills are also necessary.
