Organizational Context
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global authority on environmental matters, establishing international environmental agendas and ensuring sustainable development within the UN framework. This role supports the Tropical Landscape Grant Fund (TLGF) in Indonesia, a grant-making initiative focused on sustainable land use and blended finance, managed by UNEP's Climate Finance Unit.
Job Purpose
This Visual and Media Communication Specialist role aims to enhance the visibility and stakeholder awareness of the Tropical Landscape Grant Fund (TLGF) in Indonesia. The purpose is to produce compelling communication materials, with a strong emphasis on video and photo documentation, to promote UNEP's blended finance work. The role will engage with national and international stakeholders, including government, donors, and the private sector, to effectively communicate TLGF's achievements and the importance of sustainable land use investments. The ultimate goal is to increase the impact and reach of TLGF's initiatives in supporting climate action and sustainable development.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility is to produce diverse communication materials, including articles, factsheets, videos, and photo documentation, for the Tropical Landscape Grant Fund (TLGF). This involves strengthening networks and knowledge sharing with stakeholders and media partners to effectively leverage TLGF's achievements. The role also includes organizing media visits and knowledge sharing activities to enhance the project's visibility. Collaboration with the UN Information Centre (UNIC), UN Communication Groups (UNCG), and media experts in Indonesia is crucial. The consultant will work under the supervision of the TLGF National Project Manager and the Climate Finance Unit Communication Officer to promote UNEP's blended finance work and increase stakeholder awareness.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience is required in developing digital communications strategies and plans, and translating key messages into visual language. Experience in creating engaging, environment/SDGs-oriented videos that inform and inspire action is also necessary. Proven expertise in social media and social networking is required, along with experience in international or national development communication.
