Job Purpose
This consulting role supports UN-Habitat's project to enhance solid waste management in Bolivia. The purpose is to provide technical expertise for developing environmental components of the Municipal Integrated Solid Waste Management Programme (PMGIRS) in Postrervalle. This includes assessing environmental conditions, formulating strategies for waste reduction, climate resilience, and sustainable practices, and ensuring alignment with regulations and municipal capacities. The role contributes to more efficient and sustainable waste management processes at the municipal and national levels, fostering environmental protection and public health.
Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise and implementation support for the formulation of environmental, climate resilience, and sustainability components within the Municipal Integrated Solid Waste Management Programme (PMGIRS) for Postrervalle, Bolivia. Conduct environmental assessments and analyses of existing solid waste management conditions, identifying risks and impacts. Develop environmental management strategies and recommendations focusing on waste reduction, climate change mitigation, composting, and sustainable practices. Formulate environmental objectives, indicators, and monitoring mechanisms aligned with regulations and sustainability principles. Support the development of environmental criteria for infrastructure and operational practices. Implement environmental training and capacity-building activities for municipal staff and stakeholders. Coordinate with authorities and stakeholders to integrate environmental considerations. Prepare technical reports and analyses on environmental management and integrated solid waste systems.
Work Experience
A minimum of four years of professional experience in environmental management, environmental assessment, climate resilience, environmental risk management, or solid waste management projects is required. Experience in environmental analyses, impact assessments, mitigation strategies, or management instruments related to solid waste or sustainability initiatives is desirable. Experience in formulating or implementing environmental strategies, climate resilience approaches, composting systems, or environmental education activities is also desirable.
