Organizational Context
This internship is within the Research and Knowledge Production Section of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna, Austria. The section is part of the Research and Trend Analysis Branch within the Division for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs. The intern will support professional staff in research activities related to the World Drug Report.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to provide support to the Research and Knowledge Production Section of UNODC in Vienna. The intern will contribute to the World Drug Report by reviewing datasets and reports, conducting literature reviews on drug use and health consequences, and assisting in data validation and presentation. This role offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in drug research within an international organization, supporting the collection, analysis, and dissemination of critical information on global drug trends and their impact.
Responsibilities
The intern will review and update data from various sources concerning drug use, HIV, and hepatitis C. Responsibilities include conducting literature reviews on drug use and health-related topics, assisting in the validation of compiled data and information, and managing references and formatting for written outputs. The intern will also help present compiled data using graphs and tables and support the coordination of tasks for the World Drug Report. This role requires close collaboration with professional staff and adherence to research protocols.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, a field of study closely related to drug research is necessary. Prior research experience in drug use and health issues is considered an asset. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in standard computer software, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
