Organizational Context

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) seeks an IT Consultant to support the ASYCUDA program. This home-based role operates under the UN Secretariat, contributing to the efficient mapping of the ASYCUDA new platform to regional requirements. The consultant will work remotely for a defined period.

Job Purpose

The IT Consultant's primary purpose is to contribute to the effective implementation and regional adaptation of the ASYCUDA new platform. This involves ensuring the system meets diverse regional needs through technical expertise and support. The role is crucial for enhancing the ASYCUDA platform's functionality and interoperability, directly supporting UNCTAD's trade facilitation objectives. By maintaining, upgrading, and extending system components, the consultant ensures the platform remains robust, efficient, and aligned with evolving requirements, thereby facilitating smoother trade processes across different regions.

Responsibilities

The IT Consultant will be responsible for maintaining, upgrading, enhancing, and supporting assigned ASYCUDA system components. This includes supporting the deployment, configuration, and release management of ASYCUDA software. Key duties involve creating additional features for the ASYREC environment and developing back-end extensions for ASYCUDA modules. The consultant will also focus on data exchange and interoperability aspects, ensuring seamless integration with other systems. Additionally, the role requires assisting the ASYCUDA team in testing new modules and performing other relevant technical tasks as needed to ensure the platform's optimal performance and functionality.

Work Experience

A minimum of 2 years of work experience in the ICT sector, with direct involvement in IT programming, is required. Experience working within the ICT unit of a governmental agency or an international organization is considered an advantage.
