IT Consultant

Organizational Context

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) seeks an IT Consultant to support the ASYCUDA program. This role is home-based and will contribute to mapping the ASYCUDA new platform to regional requirements, operating under the supervision of the ASYCUDA Regional Coordinator for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this consultancy is to contribute to the efficient mapping of the ASYCUDA new platform to regional requirements. The consultant will be responsible for implementing software enhancements, including databases, workflows, interfaces, business rules, and reporting, ensuring adherence to ASYCUDA standards, data integrity, security, and operational needs. This role involves designing and executing test scenarios, analyzing results, identifying defects, and ensuring delivered solutions meet functional and technical specifications. Additionally, the consultant will support system monitoring, quality assurance, documentation, knowledge management, and develop new features for the ASYREC environment and ASYCUDA modules.

Responsibilities

The IT Consultant will implement software enhancements, focusing on databases, workflows, interfaces, business rules, and reporting requirements, ensuring alignment with ASYCUDA standards, data integrity, security, and operational needs. Responsibilities include designing test scenarios, test data, and test bases; analyzing test results; identifying defects; and overseeing corrective actions to meet agreed functional and technical requirements. The role also involves contributing to system monitoring, quality assurance, documentation, and knowledge management activities. Furthermore, the consultant will create additional features for the ASYREC environment, work on extensions for ASYCUDA modules, test new developments from the ASYCUDA team, and perform other relevant technical support tasks.

Work Experience

A minimum of 2 years of work experience in the ICT sector, with direct involvement in IT programming, is required. Experience working within an ICT unit of a governmental agency or international organization is considered an advantage.
