Organizational Context
The United Nations Secretariat, specifically the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Mexico City, is seeking an intern. This role will support the Security and Justice Unit, contributing to its mandate and operational activities within the scope of human rights protection and promotion in Mexico.
Job Purpose
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience within the UN Secretariat's OHCHR in Mexico City. The intern will provide crucial support to the Security and Justice Unit, assisting in the planning of events, conducting research on relevant human rights issues, and supporting transparency requests. The role involves contributing to the preparation of various official documents, communications, and presentations. By undertaking these tasks, the intern will directly contribute to the effective functioning and achievement of the OHCHR's objectives in promoting and protecting human rights, while developing their professional skills in a dynamic international environment.
Responsibilities
The intern will assist the Security and Justice Unit by supporting the planning of agendas, meetings, and events related to the Unit's thematic areas. A key responsibility will be to aid in research on diverse topics pertinent to the Unit's work, including processing transparency requests and monitoring media coverage. The intern will also provide support in drafting notes, internal communications, presentations, and other documents relevant to the specified thematic areas. Additionally, the intern will be expected to undertake other necessary tasks to ensure the fulfillment of the OHCHR's objectives.

Skills
Fluency in Spanish (spoken and written) is required. Knowledge of English is desirable. Familiarity with other official UN languages is an advantage. Skills in research, document drafting, and event planning support are expected.
