The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) provides essential assistance and protection to approximately 5.8 million registered Palestine refugees across Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and Gaza. This role supports the Electrical Design Engineer within this vital humanitarian organization.
Job Purpose
This role supports the preparation of detailed electrical designs for various building projects, including schools, hospitals, and shelters, ensuring compliance with UNRWA policies, standards, and international codes. The position contributes to tender document preparation, provides technical support for electrical alterations, and collaborates with construction teams to resolve design issues during implementation. The role also involves coordinating with other designers to optimize electrical solutions, assisting in drafting Terms of Reference for consultants, and contributing to various technical and progress reports. The primary goal is to ensure cost-effective, reliable, and safe electrical designs that meet project requirements and incorporate sustainable elements.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of detailed electrical designs using CAD software for diverse projects such as schools, hospitals, and shelters, ensuring adherence to agency policies, design criteria, and relevant codes. This involves incorporating green elements and safety measures for optimal cost-effectiveness. The role also entails contributing to tender document preparation, including drafting specifications and Bills of Quantities. Providing technical support for electrical alterations, assessing existing systems, and identifying remediation needs are crucial. Collaboration with construction teams to address design issues during implementation and updating drawings to reflect as-built conditions are also key duties. Furthermore, the position involves coordinating with other designers for integrated solutions and assisting in drafting Terms of Reference for consultants, alongside preparing inputs for various technical and progress reports.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant experience in electrical design, including drawing and calculations, is required. Experience with electrical design software, such as AutoCAD, is essential. Preference is given to experience in public buildings and developmental projects.
