Job Purpose
The consultant will play a crucial role in the UNDA18 project, "Better Statistics on Digital Services Trade for Gender-Responsive Trade Policies in Asia and the Pacific." The primary purpose is to provide technical support for trade in services statistics and the deployment of the Trade in Services Statistics Information System (TiSSTAT). This involves assessing national statistical frameworks, identifying data gaps, and preparing the necessary technical and methodological requirements for TiSSTAT implementation and pilot data collection. The consultant will also contribute to capacity-building and knowledge sharing among participating countries, ensuring the project's objectives are met and that improved statistical data supports gender-responsive trade policies.
Responsibilities
The consultant will conduct comprehensive assessments of national statistical frameworks, methodologies, data sources, and compilation practices in participating countries concerning trade in services, digital trade, and gender statistics. This includes reviewing documentation, identifying data availability and gaps, and preparing assessment reports. The role involves providing technical support for the implementation, testing, validation, and deployment of the TiSSTAT system, including reviewing country datasets and preparing them for integration. Additionally, the consultant will prepare technical materials, deliver technical assistance and training, and provide guidance to national institutions on data compilation and reporting. The consultant will also contribute to knowledge sharing, document lessons learned, and provide technical inputs for project reporting and monitoring.
Work Experience
A minimum of one year of relevant professional experience is required, specifically in financial analysis, data analysis, and project monitoring or follow-up, preferably within an international or regional development context. Experience with financial reporting, budget tracking, or data entry is desirable, as is familiarity with organizing meetings and supporting workshops.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and virtual collaboration tools (Zoom, Teams). Strong analytical skills for data and financial analysis. Experience in project monitoring and follow-up. Ability to prepare technical materials and provide training. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for technical assistance and capacity-building.
