Job Purpose
This role supports the Head of the Sub-regional Office for Central Asia in coordinating programme planning and project implementation. The Assistant will compile and present information, review project documents and budgets for compliance, and serve as a liaison for administrative actions such as personnel recruitment, travel, payments, and procurement. Responsibilities include monitoring project delivery, drafting reports, managing correspondence, and providing general office assistance, including organizing meetings and maintaining records. The position contributes to the effective functioning of UNEP's environmental initiatives in the region.
Responsibilities
Assists in coordinating programme planning and project initiative preparation, monitoring proposal status, and reviewing documentation. Compiles and presents information on specific programmes and projects. Reviews project documents, cost plans, and budgets for compliance and consistency, distributing approved documents. Manages budget revisions, verifies fund availability, and ensures system entry. Acts as a focal point for administrative coordination of programme/project activities, liaising with units for personnel actions, travel, payments, and procurement. Compiles and enters project delivery data, drafting status reports on delivery and budget issues. Drafts budget-related correspondence and prepares periodic reports, briefing notes, and summaries. Provides general office support, handles inquiries, manages correspondence, maintains files, and organizes meetings. Offers guidance to new staff and assists with data collection, analysis, and presentation for reporting and decision-making. Supports visualization and updating of information materials.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant experience in programme or project administration, technical cooperation, or a related area is required. This is reduced to three years for candidates with a first-level university degree. Experience with an Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) system is mandatory. Experience with the UN or similar international organizations and one year of data analytics experience are desirable.
