Organizational Context
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), part of the UN Secretariat, is undertaking a project to enhance climate change statistics and indicators in Latin America and the Caribbean. This role supports administrative and logistical activities for a regional workshop focused on environmentally extended input-output matrices, contributing to capacity building in national statistical systems.
Job Purpose
This role's primary purpose is to provide essential administrative and logistical support for a regional workshop on environmentally extended input-output matrices, a key component (OP1.5) of the "Better climate change statistics and indicators in Latin America and the Caribbean" project. The project aims to strengthen environmental statistics and accounts, helping selected countries develop, produce, and utilize relevant climate change indicators for policy design and monitoring. The administrative support ensures the smooth execution of the workshop, facilitating the transfer of technical and analytical capacities to participating institutions in the region.
Responsibilities
The role involves comprehensive administrative and logistical support for the project, specifically for a regional workshop. Key duties include managing human resources, travel, and event-related processes in coordination with the project manager. The incumbent will provide general support to ensure the project's smooth implementation, track invitations, and follow up on necessary actions. Responsibilities also encompass handling phone calls and visits, responding to inquiries, maintaining updated files and databases, and assisting with document review for grammatical and typographical accuracy. Additionally, the role requires organizing meetings, managing office supplies and equipment, processing vendor contracts and participant travel, and preparing administrative documents like travel requests and expense claims.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience is required in office administration, project assistance, or related administrative tasks. Experience in event management and administrative processes within the United Nations System is desirable.
Skills
Excellent Spanish language proficiency. Knowledge of English. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or equivalent software. Key performance indicators include punctuality, teamwork, client orientation, and good communication.
