Organizational Context
The International Trade Centre (ITC) supports developing and transition economies by enhancing trade opportunities and promoting sustainable development, with a focus on SMEs. This role is situated within the Business-driven Trade Facilitation and Investment Facilitation (BTIF) section of the Division of Market Development (DMD). BTIF is a technical team dedicated to improving the business environment for exporters through specialized technical assistance in trade and investment facilitation.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to support the Business-driven Trade Facilitation and Investment Facilitation (BTIF) section of the International Trade Centre (ITC) in its mission to improve the business environment for exporters in developing and transition economies. The intern will contribute to enhancing exporters' competitiveness by assisting in the coordination and delivery of activities related to trade and investment facilitation reforms, including those under the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement and the WTO Agreement on Investment Facilitation for Development. This involves conducting essential research, contributing to the implementation of technical assistance projects, developing key concept notes and reports, and organizing workshops and training sessions. Furthermore, the intern will aid in preparing and disseminating corporate communication materials and supporting outreach initiatives. This role directly contributes to ITC's broader goal of promoting sustainable and inclusive development through trade.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Associate Programme Officer, the intern will undertake a range of responsibilities to support the BTIF section's objectives. Key duties include assisting in the coordination and delivery of activities, such as events, missions, and conferences, aimed at implementing trade and investment facilitation reforms in developing countries, specifically those aligned with the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement and the WTO Agreement on Investment Facilitation for Development. The intern will conduct basic research on various aspects of trade law, trade facilitation, investment facilitation, and trade policy, monitoring relevant developments to provide timely updates. Contributions will also extend to the implementation of trade and investment facilitation projects and related technical assistance activities. Furthermore, the role involves developing concept notes, technical papers, reports, and PowerPoint presentations on pertinent trade and investment topics. The intern will assist in organizing workshops, training sessions, coaching activities, and regional events. Finally, responsibilities include preparing and disseminating corporate communication materials, such as social media content, web stories, and newsletters, and supporting the mapping, monitoring, and delivery of outreach initiatives and high-level team events.
