The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is undertaking a project to understand and address growing multidimensional inequalities in the Arab region. Job Purpose
This internship aims to support ESCWA's project on 'Inequality in the Arab region,' specifically contributing to the 2027 Intergenerational Inequality Report. The role will involve analyzing multidimensional inequality trends, exploring future scenarios, and developing policy recommendations. The intern will assist in understanding the drivers of inequality and formulating policy solutions for policymakers, researchers, and youth. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to evidence-informed policy action and shape more equitable futures for the Arab region by examining the intersection of structural inequalities with technological, environmental, and geopolitical transformations.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide crucial support to the 'Inequality in the Arab region' project. Key responsibilities include assisting in the analysis of multidimensional inequality within the Arab region, with a specific focus on projections for 2045. The intern will be tasked with drafting at least one policy write-up for the inequality solutions portal. Additionally, the role involves supporting other facets of the inequality portfolio as needed and undertaking smaller tasks in preparation for the Arab Forum for Equality. This contribution is vital for advancing ESCWA's understanding and policy development concerning inequality.

No previous work experience is required for this internship. The focus is on academic background and demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and its ideals.
Skills
Computer literacy in standard software applications. Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to its Charter. Ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Fluency in English and Arabic (speaking, reading, writing, understanding).
