Organizational Context
The Department of Operational Support (DOS), specifically the Office of Supply Chain Management (OSCM), is responsible for efficient, agile, and accountable supply chain solutions for global partners. OSCM encompasses logistics, procurement, aviation safety, and uniformed capabilities support, providing advisory services to nearly 100 client entities. This internship role is situated within OSCM, reporting to a supervisor.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide hands-on experience in project management and data analytics within the UN Secretariat's Office of Supply Chain Management (OSCM). The intern will support project management activities, including planning, scheduling, and tracking progress, contributing to the timely completion of deliverables. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional divisions to achieve organizational objectives, translating data into reports and presentations, and gaining a broad understanding of UN System operations. This opportunity is designed to enhance skills in project management and data analysis while supporting OSCM's mission.
Responsibilities
The intern will support project management by planning, scheduling, documenting, and coordinating tasks, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of deliverables. This includes tracking project progress, managing deadlines, and adapting to changing priorities. The role involves leveraging Agile Principles for task analysis and coordinating weekly project updates. The intern will develop and deliver presentations on project findings, collaborate with cross-functional divisions to meet objectives, and translate data into reports. Responsibilities also include preparing meeting agendas, documenting notes, assigning tasks, and providing support for organizing meetings and events, including logistics and follow-ups.
Work Experience
No prior work experience is required for this internship. However, experience using Office 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) is required. Desirable experience includes drafting and presenting reports, data collection, analysis, visualization, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. The ability to work with minimal supervision in a complex environment is an asset.
