Organizational Context
The United Nations Secretariat, specifically the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), is implementing the Arab Digital Inclusion Platform (ADIP). This initiative aims to foster inclusive digital transformation across the Arab region by supporting policymakers in developing and enhancing national digital inclusion and accessibility policies. The internship will provide hands-on experience within ESCWA's substantive work and ADIP project activities.
Job Purpose
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to the Arab Digital Inclusion Platform (ADIP) project, which is dedicated to promoting inclusive digital transformation in the Arab region. The role will support policymakers in developing and refining national strategies for digital inclusion and accessibility. Interns will gain practical experience in substantive project work, assisting with research, data compilation, policy template development, event preparation, and report drafting. The position is designed to provide hands-on exposure to the UN's work in digital inclusion, contributing to the creation of tools and guidelines that enhance digital accessibility and empower various population groups across the region.
Responsibilities
The intern will conduct background research, retrieve and compile information, and contribute to project activities, including the digital inclusion policy template, assessment tool, and the project's e-inclusion digital platform. Responsibilities include preparing statistical tables and graphs, supporting the creation of presentations and background materials, and reviewing documents for accuracy and validity. The intern will also assist with event preparations, track workplans and milestones, and support the drafting of reports, briefings, and correspondence. Additionally, the role involves contributing to teamwork, updating the ADIP project online portal, and potentially assisting with document translation between English and Arabic.
