Communication Specialist Intern

Organizational Context

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Kuwait, part of the UN Secretariat, works to coordinate humanitarian actors and ensure coherent responses to emergencies. The External Relations Section, within the Partnerships Branch, aims to strengthen engagement with Member States and organizations to support OCHA's mission.

Job Purpose

This internship provides an opportunity to support OCHA's humanitarian engagement with the Government of Kuwait and partners, contributing to vital communications activities. The intern will assist in developing communication products, planning events, disseminating social media content, coordinating meetings, and drafting reports. This role is crucial for enhancing OCHA's partnerships and promoting effective humanitarian action within Kuwait and the wider region, offering valuable experience in international humanitarian affairs and communications.

Responsibilities

Support the development of communication products tailored to specific audiences regarding humanitarian needs. Assist in the planning and execution of events organized or co-organized by OCHA in Kuwait. Develop and disseminate social media content highlighting OCHA-Kuwait partnerships. Coordinate meetings and consultations with national and international partners. Draft summaries, meeting minutes, and reports. Perform other administrative tasks as required to support OCHA's operations and outreach efforts in Kuwait.

Work Experience

Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, prior experience in communications, media, or a related field is considered desirable. Familiarity with standard software applications like MS Word, PowerPoint, and Teams is necessary.

Skills
