Job Purpose
This Site Engineer role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of construction and maintenance project sites. The incumbent will supervise contractor work, ensuring adherence to contract documents, quality standards, and health and safety regulations. Key functions include monitoring material quality, verifying executed work quantities, processing contractor payments, and managing site surveys and leveling. The role involves resolving technical difficulties, documenting site progress, preparing variation orders, and maintaining project records in the Facilities Management Information System (FMIS). The engineer will also assess contractor methods for safe execution and prepare progress reports, contributing to the successful completion of UNRWA infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
Supervise all daily construction and maintenance project site activities, ensuring contractor work complies with contract documents, quality, health, safety, and gender requirements. Monitor material quality and workmanship, ensuring compliance with specifications and conducting necessary tests. Evaluate and agree on executed work quantities with contractors, verifying interim and final payments. Ensure accurate site leveling and surveying, checking existing utilities for conflicts and resolving technical issues with supervisor guidance. Record site drawings, foundation details, excavation strata, and any deviations from plans. Prepare and discuss variation orders, extensions of time, and contract changes with the supervisor, assessing associated costs. Maintain project records in the FMIS, including payments, progress, and tests. Prepare daily/weekly technical and financial progress reports, providing recommendations. Review and approve contractor work methods in consultation with supervisors to ensure safe and satisfactory execution. Perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of experience in site supervision of construction, maintenance, or infrastructure projects is required.
Skills
