Organizational Context
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in Morocco, established in Rabat in 2021, promotes sustainable urban development. It provides technical cooperation and capacity building through policies, programs, and projects in partnership with the Moroccan government. The National Office supports sustainable urban development efforts and consolidates cooperation mechanisms.
Job Purpose
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to UN-Habitat's mission of promoting socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities within Morocco. The intern will support the National Office in its technical cooperation and capacity-building initiatives, assisting in the implementation of policies, programs, and operational projects. This role provides practical experience in sustainable urban development, data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and event management, contributing to the office's goal of achieving sustainable urban development in the country and strengthening partnerships.
Responsibilities
The intern will assist the office team in collecting and analyzing urban development data at national and territorial levels. Responsibilities include identifying collaboration opportunities with key actors, supporting the drafting of working documents (concept notes, project presentations), and contributing to the improvement of the country office's work plan. The role also involves assisting in the design of training programs and materials for local governments, and supporting the planning, preparation, and implementation of events such as meetings, workshops, and conferences. Additionally, the intern will aid in outreach activities, production of advocacy material, planning and reporting on partner meetings, and communication efforts with various UN entities and national partners, alongside administrative tasks.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, applicants must be pursuing or have completed a university degree in a field closely related to the internship's focus, such as Geo-Science, Human Geography, Earth Observation, Engineering, Architecture, or Urban Planning. Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse cultural backgrounds is also noted.
