Organizational Context

Job Purpose
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to the United Nations' mission by supporting the Sustainable Development and Climate Section within the Department of Global Communications. This involves researching and analyzing information on critical global issues, assisting in the creation of diverse communication products for various audiences, and supporting outreach campaigns and events. The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience and exposure to the UN's communication strategies and global initiatives.
Responsibilities
The intern will be responsible for tracking, researching, and analyzing information related to climate change and sustainable development, gathering data from multiple sources, and assessing its news value. Key duties include drafting and compiling information products for different target audiences across various media (print, broadcast, social media). The intern will also conduct photo and graphic research, assist in implementing DGC's communication campaigns, and identify potential information opportunities. Supporting the organization of events focused on SDGs or Climate Action, maintaining media and subscription mailing lists, and performing media monitoring are also core responsibilities. Additional tasks assigned by the Team Lead will be undertaken as needed.
Work Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Demonstrated interest in the UN's work and commitment to its Charter ideals are important. The ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds is also required.
