ASYCUDA Intern, ASYPM UI Re-engineering & Data Visualization
Organizational Context
This internship is with the United Nations Secretariat, specifically within the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva. The role is situated in the Division on Technology and Logistics (DTL) and is part of the ASYCUDA Programme. This is an unpaid, full-time, six-month internship opportunity.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to support the ASYCUDA Programme in re-engineering its user interface (UI) and enhancing data visualization capabilities. The intern will assist in assessing the impact of integrating Apache ECharts to improve dashboard interactivity, responsiveness, and analytical capacity. Additionally, the role involves redesigning the ASYPM UI to optimize user engagement, usability, and performance, ensuring seamless compatibility with the existing ASYCUDA architecture. This experience aims to provide valuable exposure to UNCTAD's work in trade and logistics technology.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Team Lead of Performance Measurement Officer, the intern will:
- Assist in assessing the impact of integrating Apache ECharts on ASYPM dashboard interactivity, responsiveness, and analytical capacity.
- Redesign the ASYPM user interface to optimize user engagement, usability, and performance.
- Ensure the redesigned UI is compatible with the existing ASYCUDA architecture.
- Adhere to all applicable UN rules, regulations, and directives.
- Provide copies of all materials prepared during the internship to the receiving department.
- Respect the impartiality and independence required of the UN, refraining from seeking external instructions or engaging in incompatible activities.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must be students in their final year of a bachelor's, master's, or PhD program, or have completed such a program. Familiarity with data analytics and dashboard design is considered an asset.
