The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hosts the Secretariat for the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) in Paris. The CCAC is a global initiative focused on integrated climate and air quality solutions, reducing short-lived climate pollutants. Job Purpose
The CCAC AQMx Manure Management Expert will develop comprehensive Sectoral Guidance on manure management, providing practical recommendations for designing and implementing improved practices. This role involves identifying successful case studies for replication and scale-up, contributing to the AQMx online knowledge platform. The expert will also curate a minimum of 30 supporting resources for the platform, aiming to build capacity among air quality managers globally, particularly in Low- and Middle-Income Countries. The guidance will address health, climate, and agricultural impacts, business models, and socio-economic equity, supporting governments in meeting air quality targets.
Responsibilities
Develop approximately 8,000-word Sectoral Guidance on manure management, offering concrete, actionable recommendations for AQMx users, with a focus on solutions for Low- and Middle-Income Countries. Identify and compile at least 30 relevant resources (reports, publications, databases, tools) for the AQMx Resource Exchange Library. Conduct consultations with stakeholders, including the CCAC Agriculture Hub and relevant task teams, to ensure accuracy and relevance. Investigate business models, financing options, and socio-economic equity considerations related to manure management. Prepare a PowerPoint presentation and key messages to support the launch of the Sectoral Guidance. Ensure the guidance highlights successful initiatives and best practices.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of professional and/or scientific experience in sustainable agriculture and manure management is required. This includes experience in research, practical implementation, or understanding of improved manure management projects, ideally in collaboration with governments. Demonstrated experience with business models and report preparation in this field is also necessary.
Skills
Expertise in sustainable agriculture and manure management. Experience in preparing clear, concise scientific and technical reports for policymakers. Ability to prepare and deliver presentations. Experience working in developing countries is desirable. Strong research and analytical skills.
