Job Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to provide essential Arabic-English interpretation and related support to the DIOS Investigations Division (DIOS ID) in Amman. The intern will assist in investigations, assessments, and intake activities, ensuring accurate documentation and comprehension of information. This role offers exposure to investigative work, assessment processes, and intake procedures within a United Nations oversight context. The intern will gain practical understanding of confidentiality, documentation standards, impartial interpretation, professional conduct, and the vital role of language support in effective and fair investigative processes, contributing to the integrity of UN operations.
Responsibilities
Provide accurate and impartial Arabic-English interpretation during interviews, discussions, intake contacts, assessments, and other investigative support activities as requested. Assist in translating or summarizing relevant documents, communications, and case-related materials, maintaining original meaning, tone, and confidentiality. Support DIOS ID staff in preparing for interviews and activities by reviewing background materials and organizing documentation. Aid in preparing interview notes, summaries, chronologies, and other written records under staff guidance. Ensure the secure organization and handling of sensitive information according to confidentiality and information management requirements. Offer additional support to investigations, assessments, and intake processes as needed.
