The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) seeks an IT Programmer and Database Specialist to contribute to project implementation. This role involves providing expertise in computer programming and developing database content management applications, supporting critical reporting systems for the Stockholm and Basel Conventions.
Job Purpose
The IT Programmer and Database Specialist will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the electronic reporting systems (ERS) and dashboards for the Stockholm and Basel Conventions. This includes resolving bugs, updating functionalities, improving data visualization, and ensuring seamless data integration and reporting. The role also involves developing new queries for data analysis and visualization, updating control tools to reflect the latest amendments, and preparing comprehensive technical documentation to ensure the continuity and efficiency of future reporting cycles. The ultimate goal is to ensure the reliability, accuracy, and user-friendliness of these vital environmental reporting tools.
Responsibilities
Maintain and enhance the Stockholm Convention Electronic Reporting System (ERS) for the 6th reporting cycle, addressing bugs and developing new visualization queries for the Stockholm Convention Dashboard. Ensure the Basel Convention ERS remains bug-free for data submission and import, and improve the Basel Convention Dashboard with new query capabilities. Update the Basel Convention Import and Export Control Tool to align with the latest national reporting format amendments and enhance its information visualization features. Prepare detailed technical documentation for all implemented changes, including a change log, rationale, and code locations. Develop a clear, step-by-step technical guide for configuring the ERS questionnaire for new reporting cycles to ensure continuity.
Work Experience
Requires at least five years of experience in system analysis, design, and computer programming, with advanced skills in MS VB and C# for the .NET platform. Experience in developing and configuring web applications using Microsoft Office, JQuery, Kendo UI, content management systems (e.g., DotNetNuke), MS SQL, relational databases, and MS Dynamic CRM is necessary. Experience with Telerik Suite for developing queries/reports is desirable.
