Organizational Context
The United Nations Secretariat, specifically the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), is implementing projects to support countries in promoting and attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). This role supports initiatives aimed at enhancing capacity for sustainable finance, green project pipelines, and investment promotion in the Asia-Pacific region.
Job Purpose
This consultancy role supports ESCAP's initiatives to promote and attract FDI in the Asia-Pacific region. The purpose is to enhance the capacity of selected countries to mobilize sustainable finance and foreign direct investment, develop green project pipelines, and ensure public debt sustainability. The role contributes to strengthening investment promotion capabilities through embedded expertise, capacity-building, strategic outreach, and the development of promotional materials, ultimately supporting sustainable investment nationwide.
Responsibilities
Develop and finalize regulatory framework mapping for smart grid developments. Deliver a blog and webinars on green investment opportunities and pipelines in ASEAN. Provide capacity building to Pacific Small Island Developing States (SIDS) on attracting FDI into green project pipelines. Create promotional materials, value propositions, pitch decks, and investment scorecards for Lao's Investment Promotion Office (IPO) in their priority sectors. Support the implementation and delivery of three initiatives focused on promoting and attracting FDI in Asia and the Pacific.
Work Experience
Requires at least 3 years of experience in foreign direct investment promotion and attraction with Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) in Asia and the Pacific. Direct experience in drafting and advising IPAs on promotional material development is essential. Experience with UN projects and in the ASEAN or Pacific regions is desirable.
