Organizational Context

The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Jakarta is part of the Department of Global Communications' Outreach Division. UNICs are crucial for sharing the UN's story globally, engaging with media, educational institutions, and civil society. UNIC Jakarta specifically promotes UN values and supports UN agency communications within Indonesia.

Job Purpose

This internship at UNIC Jakarta aims to support the communication efforts of the United Nations within Indonesia and Southeast Asia. The intern will contribute to inter-agency campaigns, outreach activities, and research, helping to promote greater public understanding and support for the UN's mission and activities. This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in international communications and public outreach within a key UN hub, assisting in the dissemination of information and the amplification of UN initiatives to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

The intern will assist in planning and developing inter-agency communication campaigns, including social media strategies, and writing/editing various communication materials. Responsibilities include amplifying UNIC/UN outreach and campaigns within grassroots youth networks and through partner organizations. The role also involves conducting research and preparing concept notes and documents for UNIC-led communication activities in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Additionally, the intern will document communication and outreach activities, such as key events and participant numbers, for internal archiving purposes, and perform other related duties as required.

Work Experience

Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, a strong interest in international affairs, international organizations, and the ASEAN region is beneficial. Skills in planning, drafting, communication, and proficiency in standard software applications are advantageous.
